Terms of use
Version 1 (early access) — effective 30 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Pastil. They explain what you can expect from the service, what we expect from you, and how we handle the information your gallery puts into it: works, prices, sales and collectors.
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Pastil, you accept these terms. If you use Pastil on behalf of a gallery or another organisation, you confirm that you may accept them for it, and "you" then means both you and that organisation.
2. Who runs Pastil
Pastil is in early access, published by an individual on a non-professional basis. As French law allows in that case, the publisher's identity is not shown here; it has been given to the host, who can disclose it where the law requires. You can reach the publisher at contact@pastil.io.
The service is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Its database is hosted by Neon, in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your sign-in methods (password, passkeys, two-factor codes) to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Accounts may not be created automatically.
- Tell us at contact@pastil.io if you think someone else has access to your account.
4. The service
Pastil helps a gallery prepare and run an art fair: import the works you are bringing, track their location, status, interest and sales during the fair, and export the results afterwards.
- Pastil works alongside your inventory, CRM and accounting software; it doesn't replace them. Keep your records of reference there.
- Pastil is free during early access. Paid plans will be announced in advance, and nothing will ever be charged without your explicit agreement.
- A fair, free or paid, covers one art fair of up to 14 days, opening within a year of its creation. Its dates are fixed once it opens. 30 days after it ends, it can no longer be edited, but stays available to read and export. A custom plan may set other terms.
- We work to keep Pastil available and your data safe, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, least of all on a fair's Wi-Fi. Features may change, be added or be removed while Pastil is in early access.
5. Your content
Your content is what you put into Pastil: works and their details, images, prices, statuses, notes, documents, and anything imported. You keep all rights to it.
- You let us store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and the people you give access to.
- Prices, sales and collector information are confidential. We never sell your content, never share it with other users or galleries, and never use it for anything but running Pastil for you.
- You can export your content at any time. When you delete it, or your account, it is deleted from the service.
- Only import what you are allowed to use: images and texts often belong to artists or photographers.
6. Collector data
Collectors' names, contact details and interests are personal data. For that data, your gallery is the data controller and Pastil processes it on your behalf and on your instructions only (GDPR, art. 28). It is your responsibility to have a lawful basis for recording it and to inform the collectors concerned. The data processing agreement, in draft during early access, sets out how Pastil processes it.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Pastil to:
- store anything illegal, or content you have no right to use;
- record personal data you are not allowed to process;
- upload malware, probe or overload the service, get around its security or rate limits, or access data that isn't yours;
- scrape or copy the service by automated means.
8. Your data
How we handle personal data is set out in the privacy policy, in draft during early access. In short:
- You can download everything we store about you at any time, from Settings → Data & privacy.
- Deleting your account, from the same page, deletes your account, sign-in methods, sessions, settings, and the content you created.
9. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after telling you why, or immediately where the law requires it or others are at risk.
10. Pastil's own content
The Pastil name and logo, the app and its design belong to us or our licensors. Don't copy or republish them without our permission.
11. Liability
Pastil is provided as is, and all the more so during early access. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, such as a missed sale, or for decisions made from figures you entered. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or removes rights the law gives you.
12. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Pastil, with no obligation to you.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a material change, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't accept the new terms, you can export your content and delete your account before they apply. Continuing to use Pastil after that means you accept them.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. Contact us first at contact@pastil.io; most problems are solved there. If that doesn't work, the competent courts are those designated by law.
